Things to Do

There are several excellent trails near Kailua “Beachside” and Kailuana too. The Lanikai Pillbox Hike may take less than two hours to trek, but it takes you into a seemingly different dimension with its 360-degree views, while the Kawai Nui Hiking Trail boasts exquisite vistas of the Koolaus.
 
Kailua also has a wealth of wonderful boutiques, from an independent bookstore to bikini shops. Its downtown area also becomes abuzz with patrons and vendors during the Kailua Farmers’ Market, where you can find an assortment of organic produce, fresh seafood, locally-sourced proteins, traditional Hawaiian snacks, and pieces of work by local artisans, all while supporting the “live local, shop local” movement.
